About
It began because nobody could answer one question.
What is this household actually worth today, across accounts in two countries and three currencies? No bank could say, and no app would. Answering it honestly took an income statement, a balance sheet, and the discipline of checking against the real balances every month.
Where this came from
It did not start as a company. It started as a spreadsheet, built to answer that one question honestly, for a household with accounts in two countries and money in three currencies.
Getting to a figure worth trusting took more than a list of expenses. It took an income statement, a balance sheet, a strict line between spending money and simply moving it, and the discipline of checking against real bank balances every month. The file grew to fifty tabs and ran a household for five years.
It became an app because a spreadsheet cannot be two people at once. One person logging a coffee from a phone while the other checks the mortgage on a laptop is not something fifty tabs of formulas will ever do well.
Everything published here comes out of that ledger. Five years of continuous, reconciled data, including the categories that were wrong for two years and the habits that finally made the figures trustworthy.
How this is run
Your data is not the product
Your data is not sold, mined for advertising, or turned into a profile. The money comes from people paying for the product, which is the only arrangement that does not put it in conflict with them.
Written from a real ledger
Every article comes out of a system in daily use, not from a content calendar. Mistakes that took years to notice are written up as mistakes. That is usually the useful part.
Independent and small
No investors to satisfy, and no growth target that would push the product in a worse direction. It is why the roadmap is slow, and why the decisions can stay coherent.

Questions about the app, bug reports, trouble with a spreadsheet, or a message explaining why the advice here is wrong. The last kind is the most useful. Every one of them gets read.
